Theodore Maturo, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Westport, Connecticut.  I specialize in treating clients struggling with addictions, coming-of-age, transitional, and relationship issues, along with co-occurring anxiety and depression.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago, moving to the East Coast for high school, and have lived in Denver, New York City, and Connecticut.  I played lacrosse and hockey at the collegiate level and learned many valuable life lessons from these sports experiences.

After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut, I worked in sales, and as a disability advocate.  Through these experiences, I found my calling and went back to school.  I received my clinical degree from Columbia University’s School of Social Work, and completed internships at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Cornell), and also at Weston United (supportive housing for people with persistent/severe mental illness).  I have also worked at the Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York, Integrated Wellness Group (individual/couple/family therapies), and MCCA (outpatient substance abuse).

My treatment approach is tailored to each individual client’s needs, utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, strengths-based/solutions focused, and mindfulness therapy models.
